This year’s SoA Youth Leadership residential programme saw another intake of young Sierra Leonians successfully complete its core modules and projects. In doing so, the participants were able to run initiatives that enhanced their understanding of the local economy, explore issues affecting the environment and weigh up different interpretations of leadership from many different historical sources.
As per the established programme, these participants will return to their schools to take leading roles in the SoA Clubs that help to expand the lessons and principles of SoA into an everyday school setting. In addition to this, they will take over the ongoing community service projects that leadership programme alumni have been running following their own stints in the leadership programme.
This year also saw the return of Christina, an alumnus from the inaugural 2009 programme. Since completing the course eight years ago, Christina has completed her compulsory education, has gone on to attend college and continues to volunteer with SoA.
